King Cake

These are usually associated with the fun that is Mardi Gras, but what the hey. It looks like it has the icing like those 2 for 1$ Honey Buns that have that layer of gel icing that comes off in a sheet. love those.

shiny sprinkles

i'm friggin starving and i think that's why these look pretty orgasmic right about now. they've got that genuine homemade feel to them. i would house that plate in less than 10. with no milk.

my skills

about 3 or 4 even? years ago i made this sheet cake for my friend katie, an irish girl whos birthday is st patricks day. it looked pretty cool from a distance, but if you get close enough you can see that it was sort of an ugly sheet cake. i made it before i knew the rule about 2 coats of icing, so its kinda crumby and i didn't have enough decorative icing so its kind of sparse around the borders. i made four heart shaped cakes and carved the stem out of one of them. katie loved it and it was a big hit.

isn't flavor what really matters?

oscar night!

not too much to say about that... but this looks more like a sarcophagus. Fun fact: The word "sarcophagus" comes from the Greek sarx meaning "flesh", and phagein meaning "to eat", hence sarkophagus means "flesh-eating"; from the phrase lithos sarkophagos the word came to refer to the limestone that was thought to decompose the flesh of corpses interred within it." nums.

allow me to digress

i would like to give a quick tribute to oatmeal, which i rediscover every now and again. i thank it for warming my belly and soul on state of emergency snow days such as this.
